In an effort to enrich children's experience in the field of global literature, the Children's Public Library organized a storytelling workshop featuring a story from Japanese children’s literature, in collaboration with the Japanese Embassy in Muscat. The workshop was part of “ Marifah” Program (Season 5), sponsored by BP Oman, which aims to expand knowledge and learning opportunities for children.

The workshop aims to introduce children to Japanese children’s book through the storytelling technique of Kamishibai theater and encourage them to explore and appreciate different cultures. The story was narrated by a team of professional storytellers who possess exceptional skills in storytelling and captivating young audiences. The workshop was conducted in both Arabic and English, and 30 children participated.

The carefully selected story focuses on an important element of Japanese way of life. The story was well-received by the children, who listened attentively and interacted with the events and characters.

Sarah Al-Mamari, the director of the Children's Public Library, commented on the workshop, saying, "This workshop provides a wonderful opportunity for children to enjoy a unique cultural experience and expand their cultural horizons through literature. It aims to promote reading, stimulate interest in different cultures, and enhance cultural understanding among people."

OTSU Yuka, Cultural Secretary of the Japanese Embassy expressed her appreciation to the Children's Public Library and BP Oman for co-organizing this unique workshop.  She was confident that the event provided the participants with opportunities to appreciate new culture and stimulate their intellectual curiosity to learn more about Japan.

It is worth noting that this workshop is part of “ Marifah” Program, sponsored by BP Oman for the fifth consecutive year. The program offers a package of programs, activities, and events that serve children, parents, and those interested in children's literature.
